Oaxacan Green Dent Corn

This lovely field corn performs remarkably well in our Maritime climate – calling into question its reputed Mexican origins. Some sources say this variety actually originates in the midwest US, with the variety name purely a marketing strategy. Either way, an excellent and gorgeous corn for northern growers. Our late-May planting is ready to harvest and dry down indoors in October! Tall and robust plants – our 2019 stand of corn survived the ravages of Hurricane Dorian, while in 2022 it withstood Hurricane Fiona. Two ears per plant. Dent corn is traditionally used for making tortillas and cornmeal, but could also be used for homestead animal feed.
